The Barents Region has a very rich and varied cultural life
For people interested in culture it’s an eldorado for experiences and inspiration. The vast area, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Urals in the east, forms a cultural rainbow of four national cultures, a diversity of minorities and indigenous peoples – Komi, Nenets, Sami, Karelian, Meänmaa etc.
The BarentsCulture site wants to
- give inspiration and information about the rich and multicultural North
- inspire you readers to participate in festivals and other cultural activities around the Barents Region
- promote and initiate more contacts and cooperation across the borders in the Barents Region
- provide a forum for people in the creative industries
We look to the people who make things happen and cover their activities.
On this site you can find short news about cultural events, festivals and interesting people, a cultural calendar, a small webshop, travel tips, interactive map, links to webcams in the region, etc. On the page Barents Top Hits, you can vote for music videos from all over the region. More features will be added continuously. The main language is English, but the text can also be translated with the help of the built-in program.
In a longer perspective, the growing and developing site will form a rich source of information to the culture in the Barents region.
Enjoy!
