TORNE VALLEY. Some new signs on the lampposts have recenty appeared in HaparandaTornio. The same symbols are also on the way in Vittangi and Lannavaara-Lainio, further north in the Torne Valley. The signs are part of a pilgrim that stretches from Karesuando in the north down to HaparandaTornio in the south. The official opening will take place in September, says Peter Hagström, director of the Torne Valley Council in HaparandaTornio. There will then be maps and information for hikers who want to make a both outer and inner journey. The Torne Valley is full of beautiful sceneries, spiritual traditions, historical places etc. According to Hagström, many people yearn for inner peace, and this area is exemplary to walk in.
The most famous pilgrim is Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where millions of people arrive at  the Apostle Jacob’s grave every year.
