LOVIKKA. Lovikka is a small village in northern Sweden, famous for its wollen mittens. This special kind of mittens was created in 1892 by Erika Aittamaa. Most Lovikka Mittens have a pattern band at the wrist that will protect from getting snow into the sleeve. Erika washed and brushed her mittens to make them more soft, warm and comfortable, and they soon became popular among forestry workers and other local people. In 1961 the Lovika Mittens was registered as a trademark.
The festival goes on for two days and includes workshops, lectures, exhibitions and fashion show.
